
CONTEST RULES
Selection Criteria:
Homes inducted into The New Mexico
Collection meet ALL
of these selection criteria, in order of importance:
- Improved
residential real estate in New Mexico.
- Well
suited to and situated within the immediate environment.
- Aesthetic
beauty, proportion, and placement in both exterior and interior design.
- Quality
of workmanship, and future viability of landscaping and improvements.
- Artistry
in the selection and placement of color, texture, lighting, and furnishings.
AND either of these selection criteria:
- Possesses
design originality balanced with practicality in residential use.
- Meticulously
conforms to a specific architectural style.
Preliminary Nomination:
Any home meeting the selection criteria
may be nominated for preliminary consideration. Preliminary nomination requires
submission of a completed official preliminary nomination form and the following
materials:
- Lot
plan drawing
- Floor
plan drawing
- Front
elevation drawing, additional elevation drawings optional.
- Four
exterior photos taken at 90°
angles
A preliminarily nominee will be reviewed
by one or more members the awards committee within fifteen days of submission.
If one or more committee members find that the preliminary nominee meets all
of the selection criteria, the home will then be considered against the
following eligibility criteria.
Eligibility:
Any home is eligible for consideration for
induction into The New Mexico Collection
provided that in the opinion of the awards committee:
- It
meets selection criteria.
- It
is not listed for sale by the owner or a real estate licensee at the time of
preliminary nomination or during the subsequent sixty-day official ACTIVE
nominee period.
- Properties
listed for sale exclusively by Marque
Malan as agent of the qualifying broker may be officially nominated during
all or part of the term of the listing agreement, but not for a period of
less than sixty days. Homes nominated under this provision must meet the
same criteria as any other nominee.
Official Nomination
Any home meeting both the selection
criteria and the eligibility criteria will be placed in official nominee status
as an ACTIVE nominee for a period not less than sixty days.
- During
the ACTIVE nominee period the awards committee will review the home for
permanent induction in The New Mexico Collection.
The decision to induct the home will be made after the end of the year of
the preliminary submission, when all nominated homes have been reviewed.
- During
the ACTIVE nominee period the home may be reasonably available for awards
committee inspection by appointment, and available for viewing by the
general public during open house periods. The public is free to submit
comments about the nominee to the awards committee during the ACTIVE nominee
period by logging on to MarqueMalan.com.
- Not
more than twelve homes will be in ACTIVE status at any one time. Preliminary
nominees will be eligible for consideration as official nominees in order of
submission for a period of sixty days. If the preliminary nomination was not
considered because its inclusion would exceed the maximum number of homes in
ACTIVE status, then the nomination will expire and must be re-submitted if
consideration is still desired. Homes listed for sale exclusively by Marque Malan as the agent of the qualifying
broker, will be eligible for consideration as official nominees under the
same terms as all other preliminary nominees except the consideration period
shall be ninety days, and if officially nominated, the ACTIVE nominee status
may be extended until the home is sold and closed.
- After
the ACTIVE nominee period, the home will be placed in HISTORICAL nominee
status until the annual awards ceremony.
Awards Committee
The awards committee will be selected by
the founder. The initial committee is to consist of four judges: two licensed
architects specializing in residential architecture, one licensed landscape
architect, and one credentialed home designer. Composition of the awards
committee may be changed from time to time. Any judge who possesses a
relationship or potential conflict of interest in relation to any nominee home
will recuse himself/herself from consideration of the nominee and the votes of
the remaining committee members will be considered alone.
Induction
The official nominees that strongly meet
all of the selection criteria, and that are judged to be the one of the five
best nominees will be permanently inducted into The New Mexico Collection provided
all members of the awards committee give unanimous consent, and the founder does
not veto the selection. The founder will shall not have an affirmative vote on
the awards committee, but shall have the power to veto any selection. It is not
required that either five or any number of homes be selected during any year.
Additionally:
- Not
more than five homes will be permanently inducted into The New Mexico
Collection
annually at the awards ceremony. After the awards ceremony, The New Mexico
Collection
will permanently affix the official medallion to the winning home/s, and the
home/s will be permanently registered in The New Mexico Collection
Official Registry of Distinctive Homes. HISTORICAL nominees not inducted
will be removed from the official nominee registry after the awards
ceremony.
- Homes
submitted during the calendar year will be judged for that year’s
respective award. Awards will be given at the annual awards ceremony during
the summer following preliminary nomination. Therefore, the 2005 awards will
be presented during the summer of 2006, etc. Homes submitted for preliminary
nomination after January 1 will be eligible for recognition the summer of
the following year.
- The
homeowner or their designated representative must be present at the awards
ceremony to be eligible for induction into The New Mexico Collection.
Amendments
The rules may be amended from time to
time, as circumstances require. The amended rules will be published here and in
other appropriate locations.
Use of Trademark
The New Mexico Collection is a
trademark. Any unauthorized use of the trademark is prohibited.
